This will take place either face to face, by telephone or online using Zoom. It’s an opportunity for you to ask questions and see if I am the right counsellor for you. There is never any pressure to continue counselling with me, I would strongly urge you to find the right therapist for you. It’s important that you are able to trust and find that therapeutic space with your counsellor. If you decide to continue, then we can schedule a date and time each week to meet, your sessions will last for 50 minutes.
I offer counselling either short term or long term, as counselling is personal and one size does not fit all, we can review while we are working together and see what suits you best. You will usually know when you are getting to the end of a stage in therapy, and together we will work towards an ending that feels right for you.
As a registered accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, I am committed to working by the principles and values set out in their ethical framework. All sessions are confidential.
Humanistic integrative counselling is a type of talking therapy that blends different psychological approaches while staying grounded in humanistic principles—meaning it focuses on your personal growth, self-awareness, and inner potential.
The “humanistic” part
This comes from approaches like Humanistic Psychology, associated with thinkers such as Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow.
Core ideas:
- You have an innate drive to grow and improve
- You are the expert on your own experience
- The therapist provides a safe, non-judgemental space
- Emphasis on empathy, authenticity, and acceptance
The “integrative” part
“Integrative” means that I won’t stick to just one method. Instead, I will combine techniques from different therapies, such as:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (looking at thoughts and behaviours)
- Psycho dynamic Therapy (exploring past experiences and unconscious patterns)
- Gestalt Therapy (focusing on present awareness)
I will tailor the approach to what works best for you, rather than forcing you into a single framework.
What it looks like in practice
In sessions, you might:
- Talk openly about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences
- Explore patterns in your life or relationships
- Build self-understanding and confidence
- Work through difficulties at your own pace
I will adapt my work depending on your needs—sometimes focusing on emotions, sometimes on thinking patterns, sometimes on past experiences.
In simple terms, Humanistic integrative counselling = A flexible, personalised therapy approach that helps you understand yourself better and grow, in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.
